ALERT: Rapid Snowfall Rates Could Wreak Havoc Across Tri-State Friday; See Projected Totals, Impacts
WNBC - TV: Snow started to fall in certain sports after midnight and a few short hours later spread across the entire area, according to the National Weather Service.
STORM TEAM 4: Air and roadway temperatures near or below the freezing mark will cause hazardous conditions across all areas, and some could get as much as 8 inches of flurries by the time the storm moves out.
- A widespread winter storm is expected to wreak havoc across the tri-state area for Friday's morning commute, potentially bringing blinding snowfall rates up to an inch an hour or more for a period of time
- Winter storm warnings have been issued for Long Island's Suffolk County and New Jersey's Monmouth and Ocean counties through Friday AM; the rest of the region is under a winter weather advisory
- NYC and surrounding areas are expected to see 3-5 inches at this point, while Long Island, south Jersey and parts of southern CT could see as much as 8 inches; alternate side parking is suspended in the city Friday and Saturday
