NEW YORK CITY: Gasoline in the Big Apple is 10 cents higher than it was on Thursday ($3.96), over 20 cents higher than it was a week ago ($3.81), over 45 cents higher than it was a month ago ($3.59) and over $1.15 higher than it was a year ago ($2.86)

According to AAA, the average price per gallon of regular gas is $4.07 in Queens, $4.03 in Brooklyn, $4.035 in the Bronx, $4.35 in Manhattan and $4.02 on Staten Island.

The prices of mid, premium and diesel gas have also substantially increased in price this year.

The spike in gas prices comes amid rising inflation across the U.S. and amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The highest average price of regular gas in New York City ever recorded was $4.31 per gallon in July of 2008.
