WILLIAMSBRIDGE (BRONX) NYC:  The death of an 8-year-old boy in the Bronx last summer has officially been deemed a homicide.

The child’s mother brought Joseph Barney unconscious and unresponsive to a hospital in an Uber last June.

Investigators were looking into the possibility of malnourishment, because the child didn't have any signs of trauma, but was underweight.

Joseph was only 30 pounds when he died, police sources said at the time.

According to CDC figures, the average 8-year-old should weigh around 50 pounds.

This has lead police to believe that he was starved to death.

Previously, the boy had been taken to Montefiore with indications of child abuse.

No arrests have been made., but investigators are looking to speak to the parents.
